Nayar Samaj has been at the forefront of preserving Kerala’s arts, culture, and traditions, while also challenging caste-based discrimination during the British Raj. Long before Kerala’s formation as a state, the Samaj stood as a torchbearer of Malayalee heritage.

Nayar Samaj Hostel
Established in 1923 in Mahim by a group of progressive youths led by Shri Kunhappa Nair, the hostel was a bold response to the discrimination faced by migrants. Later relocated to Dadar, it continues to provide affordable boarding and lodging to 30-40 residents, upholding its founding principles of inclusivity and support.

Nayar Samaj Community Hall
Thanks to the efforts of few selfless leaders, The Samaj acquired it’s own building next to the hostel premises in1957.This building hosts the Community Hall which was constructed in 1961 under the able leadership of (Late) V R Nedungadi, who was served Chariman/Secretary for various committee’s. The community hall can host about 200-250 people at a time and is available at nominal cost to the public.

Nayar Samaj Ayurvedic Centre
Nayar Samaj established the Ayurvedic Centre in the 1960’s, and later in 1990’s expanded the facilities to offer wider range of Ayurvedic treatments, with a motive to propagate Ayurveda and make the traditional Kerala Ayurvedic solutions available to the public in Mumbai.
The Centre in association with the Arya Vaidya Pharmacy, Coimbatore LTD, offers free medical consultancy to the needy and offers Ayurveda medicine and treatments including “Pancha Karma”.
Other Initiatives
As a non-profit organization, Nayar Samaj remains deeply engaged in charitable and cultural activities. Celebrating 100 years of service, it continues its mission by providing:
- Job placement assistance
- Financial aid for education, weddings, and medical needs
- Support for the underprivileged
